Monas’ Electricity Management Handed Over

Starting today, Thursday (8/28), the management of 2,200 lamps and 30 electricity panels in National Monument (Monas) area, Central Jakarta, will be officially handed over by Central Jakarta Energy and Industry Sub-Department to Monas Area Management Unit (UP).

We suggest for the panels to use master Q, that is one key for 30 panels

Head of Central Jakarta Energy and Industry Sub-Department, Iswandi, hopes that with this handover, Monas’ electricity problems could be handled more professionally. And one of the problems should be paid into attention is the electricity stealing done by the street vendors.

Such problem happens within Monas area because the electricity panel covers were destroyed by the street vendors. Moreover, each panel has different key, so it is easily destroyed. Because of such action, Jakarta Provincial Government often suffers losses.

Street Vendors in Monas Steal Electricity

Regarding the electricity management handover, Iswandi told that a meeting with Monas Area UP has been scheduled today. Afterwards, joint inspection will be done to check the condition of those 30 electricity panels.

Although the electricity management will be handed over fully, it does not make the electricity maintenance is taken over directly by Monas Area UP. This is because at this time there is still electricity maintenance budget as much as Rp 600 million in the treasury of Central Jakarta Energy and Industry Sub-Department. Monas Area UP will manage everything fully next year.

According to Iswandi, after Monas’ electricity management handled by Monas Area UP, he suggested Monas Area UP to use one key for those 30 electricity panels.

“We suggest for the panels to use master Q, that is one key for 30 panels,” he stated, Wednesday (8/27).

In addition, Iswandi appreciates the plan of PT PLN (State Electricity Company) to install Kilo Watt Hour (KWH) meter in Monas area. With that device, the losses caused by electricity stealing can be known.

“By installing KWH meter, we can know how many electricity used and how much the losses are,” he said.
